Went to a great wine tasting evening last night.

It was held at The Wine Clearance Warehouse on Nicholson St Brunswick, and boy do those guys know how to throw a wine tasting night.

Their warehouse is chockers full of wine (duh), mostly from lesser known Australian wineries , as well as some cleanskins and imports. And all of is is available for tasting. So much to taste, so little time. And the guys pour a generous glass to taste. Also, despite the number of people there, they were happy to spend time discussing the different wines we selected to taste and giving some much appreciated advice.

And the food!! Aldo’s brother owns a local butcher’s shop and he supplies a terrific barbeque (I’ve had meat from there and it’s excellent, especially kangaroo). Together with cheese platters, trays of pizza, and dips and biscuits we gorged ourselves silly (in a cultured and refined manner of course).

They always have extra specials on these nights like buy a case of 12 and get 2 free, and for every case you get a free slab of lager (Crown or Corona) or a 1.125ltr bottle of spirits or a $25 voucher for meat from Aldo’s brother. Pretty good, eh?

Needless to say we’re now fully wined up ready for the silly season. So let the games begin!
