HOTP Girlfriends’ Getaway

Last Friday I went to a terrific scrapping day organised by Birch Haberdashery and run by Paulette Jarvey and Sara Naumann, President and Vice President of Hot of the Press. I’ve written about Paulette and Sara previously when I reviewed their Paper Wishes Weekly Webisodes and I’m here to tell you that what you see on those webisodes is exactly what you get. They are a fantastically fun loving pair who are excited about what they do and the products they sell. And the HOTP products are pretty damn fine too; specialising in totally coordinating ranges that make it really easy to choose matching papers and embellishments.

They put on a wonderful day, taking us through eight different projects. And all the things we made (four cards, three Scrapbook layouts and a covered Sarabinder) were all great looking items that I for one, know I will be able to use. But hot-off-the-press, HOTP, Scrapbook layoutmore than that, the kit they provided us with and all the fantastic freebies they gave away throughout the day saw everyone walking out of the workshop with great scrapping products with a retail value well over what we paid for the day. They were giving stuff away like there was no tomorrow.

And on top of all that we were plied with food, including a yummy lunch and had the benefit of two great scrapbooking and cardmaking teachers sharing their tips and techniques with us. People came from Sydney and South Australia for the day and although everyone was exhausted by the end, absolutely everyone had a wonderful time and is eager for next year’s event.

So to all you Aussie scrappers, and especially Melbourne scrappers, I absolutely urge you not to miss these girls when they return next year. You’ll get a wonderful fun day, a great lunch, lots of great ideas, lots of fabulous make-and-takes and an absolute bucket load of top quality scrapping stuff.

Oh and just for the record, I am in no way associated with either Birch or HOTP. This is an entirely independent review.

Oh Sara is lovely. I did a class of hers about two years ago and she is such a ball of energy. What a great day you had.

How stinkin’ fun! Sounds like you had a blast. I’m so jealous. You’re projects are beautiful and it’s always nice when they are something you’ll actually use. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Sounds like you had a great time!! Thanks for stopping by and for your words of encouragement.
I love your layout. I like how the ribbon runs perpendicular to the lines on the paper, makes your eye run straight to the picture. Great design.

Karen,

I love getting away for workshops and time spent with good friends. I have a weekend coming up real soon with friends and a calligraphy workshop.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. I’m trying to decide if I should switch over to wordpress from blogger. So for now I’m kind of testing it out.

BTW I had a wonderful romp through your blog the other day and I should have commented then. Love your scrapbook pages.
