Scrapblog - Digital Scrapbooking without the learning curve
Welcome to Scraps of Mind. I'm delighted to see you. Why not check out the site, you'll find a bunch of great scrapbooking and blogging articles, tips and tutorials on the Articles Page. And if you enjoy this or any other articles on Scraps of Mind, I'd really appreciate you giving them a thumbs up on StumbleUpon to share them with other Scrapbookers. Thanks for visiting and I look forward to seeing more of you.
A friend of mine just pointed me to a nifty little web site call Scrapblog. The site has a great little online flash tool which lets you create digital layouts to create your own scrap blog. You can also link them into your existing blog (unfortunately Wordpress doesn’t allow me to post flash code from unauthorised sites into my blog here so I can’t demonstrate it. But if you blog with Typepad or Blogger you can run the slideshow on your blog if you wish), print them off, distribute them to your friends and family, run them as a slide show and a bunch of other fun things. You can create layouts with a sound track or import videos that you’ve uploaded to You-Tube.
The beaut part is how easy it is. You don’t have to learn about layers and filters and other photo editing stuff. Creating your layout is really quick and easy. You can build your page from a blank canvas, utilising the available selection of backgrounds such as I have done here, or you can use one of the pre-made templates available and just drop your photos in like this. But rather than just insert your photos and leave it at that, you also have the option to pull a variety of embellishments onto your page and size them, angle them and position them to suit. And you can manipulate the elements that are on the templates too so you can position your photos how and where you want them. Just because they’re templates doesn’t mean that you don’t have a lot of freedom to design your own page.
There are some limited editing functions available to you if you want to use them but basically you can create quick and easy digital pages without any Photoshop or PaintShopPro skills. This makes it a great tool for the traditional scrapbooker who would like to get the share-ability of a digital album but doesn’t feel inclined to go down the learning curve to learn how to create digital pages.
And a little tip, if you want to create a slideshow you need to create and save a number of layouts and then publish them all together. Publishing individual layouts creates a number of individual Scrapblogs.

bit of a shame we can’t use this in Wordpress.

In all fairness Janine, this site has only been up and running since the beginning of April. I expect once Wordpress are satisfied with the security of their code they will allow it just like they allow You-Tube code.
Have you ever noticed the Akismet counter at the bottom of your Dashboard? That’s telling you how many Spam comments they’ve killed off before they ever hit your blog. I must admit, I think that overall their paranoia is a benefit to us. And given the state that Blogger is in, I’m prepared to put up with a bit of inconvenience.

I HATE blogger commenting for sure. I was just thinking what torture it is to try to type those letters. I never get it right the first time!

Well I think we can thank Akismet that we don’t need it on Wordpress.
