Scrapbookers love Freebies
Scrapbookers love Freebies. True? True. So word of a new Scrapbook Freebie site should be welcome news to many readers.
About a month ago Andrea from Love, Laugh & Learn – Ingredients for a Great Life thought she would try designing some flourish brushes. They turned out so well that she decided to offer them as a freebie to readers of her blog. Then she decided to try designing some other embellishments which also were very successful. So she created some complementary papers and before she knew it she had a full scrapbook kit Tailored Flourish, which she offered as a free download from her blog.
My layout of my two nieces on the left is created using the Tailored Flourish kit (I have blended a couple of the papers together to make the background). So as you can see it’s a lovely scrapbook kit.
Anyway over the last month Andrea has built up quite a head of steam. And as of the date of this post, she has three freebie scrapbook kits on offer to visitors to her blog. And by the looks of things she doesn’t appear to have any plans to stop creating them.
So if you like the look of Tailored Flourish, I recommend you jump on the link in this post and check out her blog. All I would ask is that you don’t forget to post a comment if you download a freebie. Remember designers like Andrea are not getting paid for all their effort in producing these fine products. Your thanks is their payment. Please don’t short change them.
And paper scrapbookers don’t feel you’re not a part of this. Don’t forget you can print out the elements and digi-papers and use them on your traditional layouts.
Remember the usual copywrite terms apply: don’t use or modify this material for any commercial purpose and don’t share the files or printouts with other people.
Addendum: Andrea is having to free up some space on her blog, so the Tailored Flourish Kit will only be available until 24th May 2007. Get in quick if you haven’t picked it up yet. She still has other kits available though.

Karen,
What an awesome surprise! The layout is so beautiful–I can’t believe how gorgeous the girls are and how nicely the papers and elements complement that beauty. Thank you so much for the nice words about my blog and my kits. I am overwhelmed. Thanks, Andrea

Karen, did you post this just for me?
I just did my first digital layout, and it was fun. It is so gracious of designers to post these freebies, as it does encourage those of us who are newbies to get their “feet wet”. Thanks for letting us know about her. Your layout is gorgeous! Love the girly colors and designs with that beautiful sepia photo.

What a beautiful layout, I’m always very impressed with digital scrapbooking as it is something I’m sure I couldn’t do!! I have some digital products that I got with a voucher I won, but haven’t yet printed them out to use for paper scrapping. I was amazed at what wonderful stuff there is out there, and I’m looking forward to using it for paper scrapping – something new and different for me! And who knows, maybe oneday I’ll attempt a digital layout myself!! :-0

Well once you do you’ll be hooked Hannah. I’m tipping Beka has been seduced over to the Dark Side now. And there’s no turning back.
I still do both but I find I produce much more interesting layouts digitally than with paper (I think anyway). Probably because the Undo button is so very liberating and there’s no issue with ruining supplies.
But I agree that sometimes you just have to have a lumpy bumpy fix.

I’ve never tried Digi but I might just have to after this! Is it really as addictive as you say Karen? Thanks for commenting on my layout, I had heaps of fun putting it together from our first collection. Kate

Oh yes Kate. There’s a bit of a learning curve to get the hang of your photo editing software but then you amaze yourself at what you can do. The trick is not to fall into the trap of trying to design your own papers and elements. That’s something to think about doing later if your want (I’m happy to leave it to others like Andrea quite frankly). Use the multitude of stuff that’s already out there and then when you get a bit of experience and confidence under your belt, you can start modifying things and playing around with them.

Thanks Tink, feedback like that helps me to know if the stuff I’m posting is of real interest to readers. Much appreciated.
And glad you understand where I’m coming from Lena. Freebies abound in the scrapping world so it’s easy not to think about what goes into producing them.
Thanks for the comments on my layout Ladies.
