I learned about it after seeing traffic spikes on my sites. I must say when my items are stumbled the variation in subsequent page views is huge. I have had several many multiples of 10,000 (including forcing me to go to another host as my old host couldn't even handle what I think was not really huge traffic), which I was happy to do) but also many that don't even get to 200 in a day. But you need to be careful how many of your own posts you Stumble and how frequently. Otherwise StumbleUpon will notice and you'll find your Stumbles won't generate as much traffic as before. The best thing is for your readers to Stumble your posts, because that is telling StumbleUpon that the people who matter think your material is worth sharing with others. Yeah I love Stumble too.
