Introducing ScrapMatters – a new digital scrapbooking community
Some of you may recall an article I wrote earlier this year called Scrapbookers Love Freebies about Love, Laugh & Learn – Ingredients for a Great Life, the blog of Andrea, my cyberbuddy and Scraps of Mind community member.
In March/April of 2007 Andrea started playing around with designing digital elements. And before many weeks had passed she was designing digital scrapbook kits and offering them as freebies on her site. She built a creative team and really started powering forward with her digital designs.
Well now she’s really jumped in to the big leagues.
Andrea’s started up her own Digital Website, called ScrapMatters because as Andrea puts it:
“You might be wondering why the world needs another digital scrapbook store. There are lots of great sites in digiland but none of them are quite what I imagined the ideal digiscrap site to be. I talked to some of my IRL (in real life) and online friends about what they thought would make the perfect digital scrapbook site. We all wanted one where we felt like we were gathering with friends just chatting and sharing our lives. Sharing layouts of family, friends, vacations and dreams. Sharing the best way to master a particularly difficult technique, teaching one another the tips and tricks that make digital scrapbooking so much fun. My discussions with them led me to really contemplate why I scrap and just what is important to me, hence the name ScrapMatters”
So she’s set up Scrapmatters to build this community, complete with forums, gallery, shop, tutorials and chat room. Now we all know that there are heaps of great sites out there with similar facilities. But I think it’s kind of buzzy when one of my Net friends takes on such a challenge with all that it entails. And I’d like to give her a toot.
So why not mosey on over there and check the place out. Many of you, like myself, are members of large scrapbook community sites, but here’s a chance to get in on the ground floor, so to speak, and be part of building one from scratch.
And don’t be afraid that you’ll be alone over there, at the time of posting this article, Scrapmatters has 99 members already. Why not sign up to be the 100th? And help build a digital scrapbooking site the way you’d like to see it.

There are so many shops out there that I cannot keep track of them all, although I try! I wish your friend well.
I know I’m working towards advancing my site too…and wonder how it will do. I do not have lots of friends like your friend to get mine going.

Karen–Thanks so much for the toot! I am so honored that you would feature ScrapMatters on your blog! I’m not sure if I would call myself “in the big leagues” but things are starting to happen–which is great news!
I would be thrilled if your readers came on over and signed up at ScrapMatters. Thanks again for the kind words, Andrea

I’ll mosey on over as soon as I pick the Princess up. Congrats Andrea.

Congratulations Andrea. I’m going to sign up. (I’m already a Heritage Makers Consultant, but I love to see what else is out there) The design world is amazing.

I think there’s something particularly exciting about getting involved with a project on the ‘ground floor’ so t speak. Don’t you?

It is. It feels like we’re on the first step of a 1000 floor skyscraper! Very exciting indeed.
