Thanks for the history! And, Angie, I’m sorry if my comment came across as degrading to your effort! I didn’t mean to imply it was something thrown together in weeks, I just meant that this is the first one and it was *everywhere*, a major accomplishment for a first time event.

Yes, Karen, you’re right – I basically made it up. I approached Triscape (makers of FxFoto) back in February, and we were off. So, it’s not that it “caught on so quickly” – it really was a 9 month process. You really need at least that long to get widespread coverage, because all the various participants need time to plan. I blogged a bit about it on my personal blog [http://angiepedersen.typepad.com/], as well as on my marketing blog [http://scrapbookmarketing.com/consulting/blog_index.html]. Heather I believe it was initially dreamed up by Angie Pedersen who got sponsorship from Triscape and other companies to launch the idea. And with a bit of Internet marketing behind it, it just took off.

I heard about this being DSB’ing day from Scrapbook Bytes and thought they’d invented it as an in-house thing only, then noticed it was all over the place (they’re one of the few sites I get email from, which may be why I heard it there first).

So… my burning question is who invented it? It’s amazing to me how things like this can catch on so quickly, but one site or a few had to have banded together and promoted the idea (I’m guessing it’s today since it’s 6 months after regular National SB’ing Day, which I believe was a Creative Memories invention that caught on outside the CM world). I’d just love to be able to backtrace this one!
