Saturday Scrapbooking Idea #3

Unify a scrapbook layout that has several scattered elements by doodling a border around the edge of your background paper about half an inch to an inch in from the edge.

If your photos or embellishments stick out beyond the edge of your border don’t worry.

Actually that’s a good thing.

Just draw the border so it looks like it’s passing behind the elements and they look like they are overlapping the border.

You can use the same technique for your digital scrapbooking layouts by using a brush to draw your border.

This technique doesn’t work so well if your background is heavily patterned unless you use a very heavy border.

Get more mileage out of your digital scrapbooking kits.

The Scrapbooking Edge Video Tutorials will show you how.

  2. Hello,
    I have a scrapbooking question.

Why is it that I don’t see more scrapbookers using antique and vintage materials for their project.

It can’t be for lack of selection, there are millions of lbs of ephemera bits, almanacs and postcards, old book jackets, and book plates, antique photo mats and frames.

Most paper and book dealers would be more than happy to get any price for their damaged ephemeral lots and would smile from ear to ear just to see them go to a good home, myself included.

    Thanks for a wonderful post.

  3. I guess it might be because the acid content of old ephemera is quite high and that makes them deteriorate as well as impacting the other paper products they touch.

  4. Thanks so much, I have been racking my brains out on that one, but your answer makes complete sense.
