Saturday Scrapbooking Idea #3

Unify a scrapbook layout that has several scattered elements by doodling a border around the edge of your background paper about half an inch to an inch in from the edge.

If your photos or embellishments stick out beyond the edge of your border don’t worry.

Actually that’s a good thing.

Just draw the border so it looks like it’s passing behind the elements and they look like they are overlapping the border.

You can use the same technique for your digital scrapbooking layouts by using a brush to draw your border.

This technique doesn’t work so well if your background is heavily patterned unless you use a very heavy border.

Get more mileage out of your digital scrapbooking kits.

The Scrapbooking Edge Video Tutorials will show you how.

Touring with the Travel Teddies - Part 1

In 2000 I took an 8 week trip around the UK and Ireland with my daughter and two friends and a band of Teddy Bears. Here is the story from the point of view of the bears.
You may like to try a crazy perspective such as this when creating your own vacation scrapbook albums. I hope you enjoy the album.
WARNING: Lots of Scrapbook layouts on this page. You may experience delays in downloading.
Many thanks to Thatch and Jools who were the Tour Photographers.

And so it came to pass that during the months of August and September 2000 a travel savvy band of intrepid Teddy Bears (Sundance, Gaffa, Ambrose and Camembear), together with their personal staff, embarked on an Odyssey to the wilds of England, Scotland, Ireland and a little bit of Wales.

Along the way they were joined by Pooster and tiny Bluey who kept a low profile throughout.

Despite the bumbling efforts of their entourage Thatch, Jools, Karen and Seona, who were just along to document the adventure on film and internet, The Bears successfully guided the group on a wonderful tour around the aforementioned countries.

Special attention was paid to the crinkly bits of Northern Scotland and an historical investigation of pretty much every stone circle and barrow in the region.

Fortunately the scientific nature of this historical quest was offset by an equally important quest to investigate as many pubs as possible across all countries. This second quest was extremely successful, introducing The Bears to Blackthorns Cider; the nectar of the Gods.

This Saga is a Tribute to the Intrepid Bears who have gone where no Bear has gone before. Read the rest of this entry »

First I want to say hello to all the readers here at Scraps of Mind.
I have gone digital!

Not digital scrapbooking. Although I know that is in my future. How could I not be inspired to start after reading amazing blogs like Scraps of Mind?

But right now my digital journey is starting with my calendar.
The mess on my desk was just getting to be too much. How could I organize my life and reduce the clutter?
I gave away my paper calendar (I think it came from the dollar store…) and I started to use Google Calendar.
At first I began to use it for all of my personal appointments and then I moved to even scheduling my errands, phone calls, etc. And it has been great so far.

Recording the Events As They Happen

Then I started to plan my new 2008 Family Album.

The idea is to do a two-page layout for each month with one page being an actual calendar. I knew I had to record the events as they happened or I would most certainly forget. Even with my plan to complete each month’s layouts right at the end of the month I needed a place to record my ’scrapbookable’ moments.
