What Do You Do with Your Scrapbook Layouts?

So once you’ve finished your scrapbook layout what do you do with it?
Do you have lots of different albums; maybe based on themes like vacations and Christmas etc. or perhaps individual album for each member of the family?
I know the journey of creating the layout is often more important that the end result. But I like to have my layouts displayed in some format.
Usually I will print my scrapbook layouts out, if they are digital layouts and I keep the latest on displayed on a little easel on a shelf above my desk. Then when I make the next one I store the layout in one of my albums and replace it on the easel with the new one.
I have an album dedicated to my daughter’s life which I add to every so often and a fledgling Book of Me album which I confess doesn’t have many layouts in it. I also make themed albums for my overseas trips. Everything else goes into a sort of Miscellaneous album.
I rarely post my layouts in on-line galleries these days. I guess my on-line gallery is Scraps of Mind, as many of my layouts end up illustrating my articles here.
But I do love to sit down with a cup of hot chocolate and browse through my albums. It’s a great feeling on a number of levels. I enjoy the memories that browsing through the albums spark for me. And I also like to look at all the different scrapbooking styles and scrapbook ideas I’ve tried and evaluate them more objectively with the distance of time.
I rarely would actually change a layout unless it really really bugged me. But I do like to see how my scrapbooking has evolved.
So back to the question at hand.
What do you do with your scrapbook layouts.

Some I burn to dvd’s for my mom to watch on her tv. Some I print out for the albums I made for my daughter of her two children. Then I remail those of Scamp and his family to him so they can either print them out or put on dvd. All are stored on my external hard drive so that when the grands are here we can pull them up and play “where’s the spider.”

What do I do? Nothing at the moment… lol. I finally bought albums to put them in but haven’t gotten around to printing any. And I also plan on burning each album to CD when they are finished, then I can give a copy of my DD’s albums to my mom too. But I haven’t actually gotten anything finished yet… lol.
Monique’s last blog post..I need your help and I’ll make it worth your time!

Monique, you just have to get some of those layouts into your albums. I do think there’s something special about seeing your layouts in print rather than just up on the screen. But it’s great that digital scrapbook layouts are so easy to share with family and friends isn’t it?
Tink you sound totally organised. I am in awe. I guess with your family scattered about the country you pretty much have to be (or is it your military background?) But I have to know… “where’s the spider?” ???

I want to buy 4 picture frames to display my latest creations. I usually do 2 page layouts so, I envision 2 rows of 2 12×12 frames on the wall. I have 2 young children and started a website with my husband which has not given me any time to scrapbook lately. I want to “catch up” and buy the picture frames as a treat when I do.

Sounds like a great idea Antoinette. And I really like the idea of giving yourself a treat after all your hard work.

What about putting an open scrapbook album on an easel or an open book support frame. Every now and then change the page. Great to have your artwork admired by everyone and more refreshing than picture frames.

That’s a great idea Doreen. I think I’ll buy a mor solid easel than the one I currently use and give it a go. It’s always nice to see some of the layouts that have been sitting in the album for a while. They look different after you haven’t looked at them for a while.

LOL - I thought “hmmm, that’s not my comment” when I read the above. Funny to find another Antoinette online
I haven’t printed any of my digital layouts yet. I hope to… once… but I’m such a procrastinator. Until I find time (get a kick in the you-know-where) I have them in an online album at my site.
