Texture Tuesday with Wildheart
Welcome to Scraps of Mind. I'm delighted to see you. Why not check out the site, and if you like what you see, subscribe to my RSS feed and get daily updates delivered to you. If you're not sure what the RSS thing is, then check out this 'RSS made easy' post. Thanks for visiting and I look forward to seeing more of you.
Wildheart of Wildheart’s Works brings you Texture Tuesday. Wildheart is a Paintshop Pro expert, but I know you’ll enjoy the tips and tricks even if you’re not a PaintShop Pro user. And you’ll find plenty of ideas to help you work with textures in your own program.
This week I finally discovered the value of subscribing to certain sites as well as subscribing to feeds in Google Reader. I found a site that allows you to make simple easy textured background tiles.
The site is Bgpatterns.com.
You have control over the following areas:
In the colors you are able to adjust the foreground and background. In the canvas tab you have access to five textures, you are able to control the pixel ratio as well as the texture opacity. In the image tab you have 70 Images to choose from to include scrolls, stars, flowers, hearts, signs, trees, and misc. You can control the image scale, image location, and image opacity. And last but not least, in the rotate tab you can rotate your image in 7 different angles or free rotate them.
Once you have an image you like you can choose to apply the background so that you can see what it will look real time on the web.
You can also download it in an image editor to see what it looks like and possibly use it in addition to other design elements to create your next design.
If you register to the site you also have an added ability to add it to your patterns. There is a series of web 2.0 buttons that allow you to spread the word of the site as well and they do ask for donations to support the site.
I think this is a useful tool for folks who may not have an image editing program as well as a tool to enhance those who do.
Here are a couple of tiles that I created while trying out the site.
As you can see this is a fairly versatile tool. I would love to see what you create.
Note: Wildheart Works site is currently undergoing a rebuild, but you can always contact Joe on her email at joecheray@gmail.com
