Don’t you hate it when ideas pop into your head?
When I lived with my Mother (a truly wonderful woman) I used to dread walking in the door to hear those fateful words, “You know, I’ve been thinking, Karen…..” because you could guarantee that she’d had an idea that was going to see me heaving furniture around, or elbow deep in paint, or hanging wallpaper, or planting some new garden bed.
So you’d think I’d have learned something. But no. You see,
“I’ve been thinking…”
Here I am writing a daily blog article, a weekly (now fortnightly) newsletter with original designed word art, and making videos as well as designing digital scrapbooking kits for my students in my digital scrapbooking course for beginners. So clearly I must have oodles of spare time, yes?
So I thought why not write a book?
Naturally I immediately stuck my head in a bucket of cold water. But the idea wouldn’t wash away.
Now I’m not talking about the Great First Novel here.
I thought a book about making money from scrapbooking might be something that people would be interested in.
After all we all dream of earning income from doing the thing we love, don’t we?
So I thought I’d put the idea out there and get your thoughts on it.
Do you think this would be of interest?
And would you be interested in contributing your own tips and ideas for a credit in the book and a free copy?
At the moment I’m just floating the concept. I haven’t fully decided to go ahead with the project.
But I’d truly value your opinion on this. After all it will be a lot of work and I’d rather not undertake it if I’m the only one who thinks it’s a good idea.
Please, please share your thoughts on this with me, either by leaving a comment below, or by emailing me at karen (at) scrapsofmind (dot) com.

Do it!!
I can’t offer any tips since I don’t scrapbook digitally. But there’s no reason why I wouldn’t start if I had a book to show me how. ;D

I think it’s a wonderful idea. You have a way of explaining things clearly. I think – but I could be wrong – that the advanced ‘scrapper’ doesn’t buy books. The beginning ‘scrappers’ however will definitely benefit from your future book. Gosh Karen, I admire you for even thinking about it. Tell me your secret, do you get any sleep at all?

You go! I need all the help i can get and i love books. There must be a lot more with the same feelings as i have, we want to and know we can but just can’t quite get going in the right direction, so i know if there was a good simple book to help that i would buy it.
I’ll be waiting.
i think a lot of people would like a book like that- lots of people like to make money from what they are passionate about… on a side note your Mom reminds me of Lucille Ball.
Thank you everyone for all your encouragement. I think I might give it a try. So if any of you want to be a part of it, send your how to make money from scrapbooking tips (both online and offline) to me at karen (at) scrapsofmind (dot) com and I i8 can include them you’ll get a credit and a free copy. I’ll let you know how I go with the project.
And I’ve scheduled to have some sleep time in 2010 Antoinette.
Go for it! You will never know how people will respond to it unless you try it.

for new scrapbookers a book is what is required to motivate and teach how to do it best. This is a hobby that appeals to many, including my 6 year old son.
I have seen some beautiful scrapbooking style pages put into frames and shadow boxes. Our local (expensive) framing store has gorgeous examples of what they can do for a customer- papers, details, momentos Good luck to you!

Thanks Lizzy. I think there are many different ways to make money from scrapbooking. And I’m looking forward to exploring more of them in this book.
Great tips Lizzy, I haven’t thought about that.
There’s money in scrapbooking not just enjoyment.
These days, you could convert your hobby and time into money.
Lots of work at home chances. You’re earning big bucks and you are enjoying too. Great!
Great idea. Never thought of scrapboking to earn an income, and you are right. Work with what you love and the money will come later.
