Scrapbook Layout Titles

scrapbook idea inspirationSometimes I think that coming up with an idea for a title for my scrapbook layout is the hardest part.

I want to do better than just ‘Seona’s 4th Birthday’ but I often find coming up with an interesting and unique title can be really challenging.

Melo wrote a great guest post for Scraps of Mind on this subject last year. You can read it here.

Is this something that comes easy to you?

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Here are a few inspiration ideas that I use to help me find a title for my scrapbook layouts.

  • Quotes.

If I can’t think of the right words then chances are, someone else already has. A nice short quote can be a great way to come up with a scrapbook layout title. And they are also great to use as journaling ideas too.

  • Word Art.

A lot of the word art that I make for the Scraps of Mind Word Art Newsletter is designed to be used as Scrapbook layout titles. If you’re a paper scrapbooker and you don’t have a graphics editing program such as Photoshop Elements, you can load the picture into Word or PowerPoint and print it out. If you’re a digital scrapbooker you can use your graphics editing tools to change the color of some or all of the words to suit your scrapbook layout color scheme.

  • Other scrapbookers layouts.

Often as I’m browsing other scrapbookers’ blogs and galleries I’ll come across scrapbook layouts with titles that i know will be perfect for a photo that I want to scrap. The Internet is a wonderful place for scrapbookers to share inspiration.

  • Scrapbooking magazines.

I don’t use these so much these days, but many scrapbooking magazines offer title suggestions to go with their gallery themes. Some of them can be a bit trite, but there are always golden nuggets to be found.

  • Commercial jingles.

Yes the TV ads can provide you with inspiration for your scrapbook layout titles. Try to choose something that is a long lived classic or at least has some meaning outside of the commercial. You don’t want to look at your scrapbook layout in a few years and wonder what the title is supposed to mean.

Can you add to this list?

  2. For quotes…

What my sister came up with (I think) is great… We remember something funny that was said; usually one of my little cousins says something funny (by accident) and it is remembered in later conversations. We started spelling out the quote with cut-out letters from magazines and this became our title for family get-togethers etc…

I thought it was a good idea, it looks nice in our books as well.

    Happy scrapping!

  3. Hey, that’s a really cool idea Susan. Littlies say some very cute things, especially as they try to sound grown up. I know many of those sorts of sayings stick in our family too. My daughter used to love a commercial for Doors Baglore (Doors Galore) and my niece had an ambition to be a White Dress when she grew up (waitress).
