Farewell to Digital Scrapbooking Magazine

digital scrapbooking magazineIt appears that the prevailing circumstances have claimed their first high profile victim in the digital scrapbooking world.

Creating Keepsakes is discontinuing their paper publication, Digital Scrapbooking Magazine.

This will be a sad loss to the digital scrapbooking community, as typically digital scrapbooking only tends to feature as an isolated segment in the mainstream scrapbooking magazines.

Lin Sorenson VP of Editorials for CK has published an announcement of the demise of their DS Magazine on their community website:

Dear CK Media employees, readers, and loyal contributors,

I am saddened to share the news that, due to difficult conditions in both the economy and the publishing market, CK Media has made the decision to cease publication of the print version of Digital Scrapbooking magazine after the February/March issue (on sale Jan 6, 2009)….

You can read the full announcement here.

For those with outstanding subscriptions CK has pledged to honor them with other Creating Keepsakes product. I’m not sure that is really a fair trade. As many digital scrapbookers will not be interested in magazines that cater mainly to paper scrapbooking. As far as I am aware Digital Scrapbooking Magazine was the only one on the market that catered exclusively to digital scrapbookers.

So I guess digital scrapbookers will have to continue getting all their digital scrapbooking info from the Internet and reading it on-line.

I agree Tiffani. I wasn’t a regular reader but it’s a shame that the one publication that was devoted to digital scrapbooking has folded.

I only stumbled upon Digital Scrapbooking Mag about 7 months ago, and was ecstatic to find such a publication and looked forward to each issue. Even if they “publish” it online, how can I sit and thumb through while watching TV, eating lunch or sitting in the doctor’s office. Sometimes, I wish we weren’t so reliant on the internet!!

I agree with Suz. Now I can no longer take the book with me when going to the doctors. And I love to sit outside on a warm day and read my Digital Scrapbooking magazine.

I am litterally heartbroken, so disappointed. I eagerly await each issue and have subscribed since they first came out. I love to curl up on the couch with my magazine and escape into my own wonderful little world.

I think many digi-scrappers will miss this mag. There are so many paper scrapbooking magazines out there and not much for the digi scrapper. Let’s face it you can’t curly up with a computer the same as you can with a magazine.

Iam sadden to find this magazine will no longer be in print. I looked foward to finding new digital resources and tips for enhancement of my skills. This magazine started my spark for digital layouts and cards.
you will truly be missed

Really sad to hear that the magazine has been discontinued…I truly loved having the magazine as a hard copy at my fingertips for reference. I could flag it and have it to follow routinely. Our back issues available???

Don’t know Deb. I guess you’d have to contact the publishers.
