Where Do Blog Readers Come From?
I’m running a little experiment and I hope you’ll help me with it.
I’d like to know how you found Scraps of Mind. Out of all the squillions of sites on the Internet, what brought you to Scraps of Mind?
I’ve been using Entrecard for 9 months now and I know that it has brought a lot of new traffic to Scraps of Mind.
But I think that most of that traffic is ‘drop and run’ rather than long term readers. The way Entrecard works tends to encourage that.
So I wanted to see where Scraps of Mind readers actually came here from.
Please help me out by doing the survey below.
Loading ...
I stopped dropping on Entrecard about a week ago and of course I experienced a dramatic traffic reduction. And I figure that now all the folk who were ‘drop and run’ have pretty much left because I haven’t dropped on them.
So if I get a significant percentage of readers who found Scraps of Mind through Entrecard and have stayed around then I will happily be proved wrong in my theory.
Given that only a small number of people usually complete a survey compared to the total number of readers, the percentage will be the deciding factor.
I think all bloggers wonder about their readership. Are they interested in what you write? Do they actually read it? How did they find you?
And if you are a blogger then the results of this survey should be a help to you too.
So please help me by selecting which option fits you.

Stumble it!

I really doubt that you are going to be able to pinpoint how and when people find your Blog, unless you do it up front when they find you. I for one will have found you in one of two ways.
-I was doing a Goggle search for something and you came up.
-I was steered to you by someone’s comment on one of my Yahoo Groups and followed through by looking you up. That I marked or subscribed to your Blog, means there were things I wanted to investigate when I had more time.
Since I don’t recall how I found you, I answered StumbledUpon, since that was basically what I did.

Not sure if I count, but I voted “other” anyway. I found your blog because you told me about it…

I have been a long time reader, though when you did your last update my email must have been left off the list so I went searching for you again. You can’t get rid of me that easily lol. To be truthful I can’t remember how I found you in the first place, it has been such a long time, your newsletters were every f/night or week back then.

Thanks for doing the survey Lynn and taking the time to leave such great explanatory comments. I realise I’m not likely to capture a lot info from long time readers because let’s face it, who can remember stuff like that from months or even years ago. But I’m hoping to see how what percentage of readers from Entrecard and Stumbleupon have been interested enough to stay with Scraps of Mind.
Heaven forbid that I would want to get rid of you Jennifer! Not sure what happened to ‘drop you off’ but I’m it’s fixed now.
I’m not sure if I’ll restart the newsletter again or not. It was a fair bit of work and I don’t have as much time as i used to at the moment. But who knows.
Thanks for being a long time reader of Scraps of Mind. It’s wonderful to know that people such as yourself want to keep coming back to read this.
Hey Seona, of course you count. You may be my daughter but I’m still happy that you regularly read Scraps of Mind.

We’ve been “friends” for so long that I’m not sure. I think it was through Digital Scrapbook Place or a comment you left on my blog.

I’m a reader from Entrecard. It too brought me more traffic, but now that my blog host won’t allow it, I’ve seen a drop too. Don’t forget to visit me!

Well I found you by way of Yaro Starak’s Blog Mastermind Program since we were both students in his course.
You should have told me you were writing again dang it I haven’t got any email updates from you at all. I popped in here to check the archives to look for the posts I have written for you and Voila to my surprise there was fresh content here.
Can you check to see if I am still on your email update list? If I am not I will resubscribe.

I found you through Entrecard.
I have you on my favorites list and drop pretty regularly.
I also read whatever is new, but often drop and run when there is nothing new to read.
Sometimes, if I have time, I browse through the older posts.

Thank you everyone for your votes so far and all your comments. I’m loving hearing about all the different places that brought you here. And I really appreciate you staying around.
If you haven’t voted on the survey you still have time. I’ll let it run for another week before I close it and gather up the data to report back to you.

I was watching a tutorial on how to curl an edge of paper. I started at daisytrail.com and through the options that opened up at the end of the tutorial, I ended up here. And I am glad I did. I love the article about color wheels. It is so difficult to choose the right colors. Thanks.

I found scarp book by search engine and i think search engine is much better to get traffic at your blog.i have my own web site and i am using some tips to get traffic on my site and i would like to share those tips with you:
1)Set up a Bloglet subscription form on your blog and invite everyone in your network to subscribe: family, friends, colleagues, clients, associates.
2)Read and comment on other blogs that are in your target niche. Don’t write things like “nice blog” or “great post.” Write intelligent, useful comments with a link to your blog.
3)Use Ping-0-matic to ping blog directories. Do this every time you publish.
