The Digital Scrapbooking Blog Carnival
The Digital Scrapbooking Blog Carnival is being hosted this week at Scraps of Mind.
I’m not sure why it is, but it seems very difficult to rally support for this bi-monthly event. The purpose of it is to share interesting and useful information around the digital scrapbooking community. And it’s a great opportunity for digital scrapbookers with blogs to get some fresh traffic for their blogs by sharing links to their best posts.
If you’re a blogger, this is a very good thing.
But somehow, as a community we can’t seem to get our act together on this. And given the sharing nature of scrapbookers I find this so bewildering. This is an opportunity to help spread the word about the good things on your own and your favorite blogs and everybody wins.
So if you have any interest in digital scrapbooking, I really urge you to investigate the great links in this carnival and check out some new scrapbooking blogs.
And how about hosting a Carnival on your own blog?
It’s dead-set easy to do and it can give your own blog a bit of extra exposure and traffic too.
The thing to remember is that if you’re going to host a Carnival, you have to let people know about it. Write about it on your blog to let your readers know it’s coming. And encourage them to submit articles to it. And maybe talk about it on the Forums you belong to (check that it’s OK with the forum terms and conditions first).
The more people you can tell about it, the more chance you have of getting plenty of submissions. And of course, the better your Carnival will be.
So why not grab your fairy floss and put on your party hat and join in the Digital Scrapbooking Blog Carnival.

Highlights from Scraps of Mind
We started an exciting new series on Scraps of Mind in the last two weeks. It’s called how to Scrapbook your Life Story and is brought to you by Guest Blogger Kylie Moore. Kylie will be taking you on a journey to leave a real legacy for your children. She’ll be teaching you you how to go about it and giving you topics to scrapbook about. And she’s even providing you with free Quickpages so you can focus on the heart of your subject matter: your journaling and your photos. You can catch up on the first two parts of this series here and here.
Laura was awarded the Scraps of Mind Outstanding Commenter for August 2008. make sure you’re in the running for the September award. This is not an award that’s handed out lightly and only a small handful of people will ever be eligible to display it on their blog.
And this week I asked the question Do you Scrapbook the Silly Things? Life is made up of a mosaic of silly little things that actually make great subjects for scrapbook layouts. Think about all the silly little things in your life that you can scrapbook.
Finally, here’s a little tutorial on customizing your drop shadows to give them a more realistic look.
