Hi, and welcome to this edition of the Scraps of Mind Word Art Newsletter.

Do you collect anything? I think some people are naturally drawn to the acquisition of ’stuff’ and others prefer to live without the clutter of lots of things. I’m one of the former and you can read more about that below.

Confessions of a Collectoholic

Hello. My name is Karen and I’m a Collectoholic.

It all started when I was a child, collecting stamps and the labels off wine bottles and anything else that caught my eye. But in recent years it’s progressed to a more serious condition and I’m currently supporting 14 collections of ‘stuff’. I mostly collect stuff from the early to mid 20th century but that’s not a definite boundary.

I’ve written about some of my collections in the early days of Scraps of Mind. But here is a list of my current collections:

  • Victorian and Edwardian porcelain teapots
  • As well as a collection of novelty teapots inherited from my Mum.
  • Vintage TG Green Cornishware kitchen ware
  • And on a similar note, a vintage collection of TG Green Streamline kitchen ware
  • Antique and Vintage perfume bottles (not the commercial kind).
  • Vintage and Antique Hatpins, the kind that come under the heading of lethal weapons in the wrong hands.
  • H&K Tunstall ‘Delicious Dozen’ porcelain
  • Lilliput Lane miniature houses.
  • Toby Jugs, especially those from the Shorter and Sons pottery.
  • Belleek porcelain, that gorgeous creamy lace looking porcelain from Ireland.
  • Maltese stamps, I was born there so it’s like a tiny connection back to my birthplace.
  • Royal Doulton Bunnikins figurines. These were supposed to be my daughter’s collection but since they live with me I think I can lay claim to including them in this list.
  • Books. Whilst I don’t pretend to have a library, I do like to have plenty of books around me. And I particularly like to collect editions of my favourite series.
  • Pill or trinket boxes. This was another collection that I inherited from my Mum, and of course I can’t let go.

Every time I think ‘that’s enough’ I seem to fall in love with soething else and another collection is spawned.

My daughter used to say to me “Mum you can’t collect everything”. But you know what?

I don’t think that’s true.

Highlights from Scraps of Mind

I’m still looking for someone who can write some photography tips articles to guest post on Scraps of Mind. If that sounds like something you would like to do, you can read more about it here. Guest posters on Scraps of Mind have usually found that they benefit from the exposure and the extra traffic to their blog.

We took a look at dressing up the photos on your scrapbook layouts with accents and embellishments last week. A simple accent can really set off your photo.

Get ready for our WorldWide Christmas Scrapbooking Freebies project. If you are a digital scrapbook designer and would like to join in the project we’d love to have you. You can find out more about it here.

And did you try out the free Traffic Rush course which teaches you how to build more traffic for your blogs by using StumbleUpon? If you missed my review of this fantastic free course you can catch up with it here.

Scrapbooking Your Life Story is taking a couple of week’s break. You can catch up with the latest issue here and there are all the links to the previous episodes at the end of the article.
