Packing Tape Art
We’ve all seen those pictures made out of type. You know, the ones composed of symbols and letters typed on a keyboard and when you step back a bit they form a picture.
And we’ve seen the more sophisticated pictures composed of other smaller images mosaiced (is that a word?) together.
Well take a look at these pictures made from PACKING TAPE!!
To get the full value of them you need to step back a smidge and get a bit of distance.
Don’t they look Great?

That’s got to be related to Scrapbooking hasn’t it?
I think these are truly amazing. And I am in awe of the perception of the minds that create art like this.

Australian Doll of the Year 2007
A few months ago I introduced you to my friend Doreen who is not only an awesome quilter, but she makes the most incredible fantasy dolls as well.
And here is her latest award winning doll, Merridae.
Merridae is a bit extra special because she has just won ‘Doll of the Year’ at the Australian Cloth Doll Association. So Yaaay Doreen!
If you’d like to see more of these wonderful creations check out the Australian Cloth Dolls Association web site. Merridae won the November award and then took out the overall Doll of the Year. And the incredible thing is that Doreen doesn’t think she is her best work. She favours Olaf for that title, but he had already won awards so he wasn’t allowed to enter for this competition.
But more than being just a gorgeous looking doll is the conditions under which Merridae was made that astound me. She was made on a ‘Mystery Doll Weekend’, where everyone has to make the same doll. Each doll maker has to design their own costume and part of the challenge was swapping fabric and trims and working with fellow doll makers. The theme became ‘Who am I?’
Merridae is a celtic musician. And Doreen also made her cittern from scratch.
When I think how long it takes me to make a scrapbook layout, I can’t believe that Doreen designed and made this beautiful doll, capable of winning Doll of the Year, in less than a week end!
No doubt about it Doreen. You Rock!!

PaintJammin’ - Check out this Amazing Painter
If you want to see some absolutely amazing painting you have got to watch this video. This guy Dan Dunn, is truly awesome.
I don’t know if any of you are familiar with a guy called Rolf Harris, but in his early days he used to do this kind of painting whilst keeping up a constant stream of chatter until the very end when you would realise what he had done. Dan Dunn doesn’t do the chatter, he kind of paints to music. And it’s incredibly entertaining to watch
Make sure you stay to the very end.
Because you won’t realise how brilliant this is if you don’t.
Now sit back and enjoy. I know you will.
Hmm, wish I could create a scrapbook layout like that.

From Scrapbooking to Banners and Bunting
I’ve come across a couple of sites in recent weeks that have featured making banners and bunting for your next festive occasion from your scrapbooking stash. And I thought “What a cool idea”.
Bonnie posted this article on the Snap and Scrap Blog giving instructions and a template for making this cute banner for her daughters room.
Unlike myself, Bonnie has a good relationship with her sewing machine so she made this using fabric scraps, and I thought at the time that this could easily be made using scrapbooking materials.
Then the other day I came across this post on Jess Gordon’s Scrapbook Ideas Blog. Jess has taken it to where I was thinking and created a nifty template to use with your Digital Scrapbooking backgrounds to easily make these banners on your computer, print them out and voila, instant festive decora
tion.
I thought with the holiday season almost on us it might be a good time to share this with you .
Have you ever tried making your own decorations out of scrapbooking supplies? I’d love to know what you’ve made and maybe a link to a picture on your blog if you have one. I think I might try this out this Christmas, how about you?

One Minute Painting
Have you ever wanted to be an artist of the painting kind?
My friend Doreen found this video on YouTube. This guy is amazing. He makes it look like nothing but I know if I tried it, it would look nothing like this.
Maybe there’s some techniques here we could pinch to create our scrapbook backgrounds. Especially ones created on a canvas,
