There will be little rubs and disappointments everywhere,
and we are all apt to expect too much;
but then, if one scheme of happiness fails, human nature turns to another;
if the first calculation is wrong, we make a second better:
we find comfort somewhere.
Jane Austen (Mansfield Park)

Life’s Journey
Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
It is because we are different that each of us is special.
Do not set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you.
Do not take for granted the things closest to your heart.Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.
Do not let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past nor for the future.
By living your life one day at a time, you live all of the days of your life.
Do not give up when you still have something to give.
Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
It is a fragile thread that binds us to each other.Do not be afraid to encounter risks.
It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
Do not shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love.
The fastest way to lose love is too hold it too tightly.
In addition, the best way to keep love is to give it wingsDo not dismiss your dreams.
To be without dreams is to be without hope.
To be without hope is to be without purpose.
Do not run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been,
but also where you are going.Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

I have found that you have only to take that one step toward the gods
and they will then take ten steps toward you.
That step, the heroic first step of the journey,
is out of, or over the edge of,
your boundaries and it often must be taken
before you know that you will be supported.
Joseph Campbell

There is no end to the adventures we can have

Words to Live by
This seems particularly appropriate in the light of Thursday’s post.
I’m having a lovely time up in Sydney this week and a little piece of Spring has been imported into this cold and Wintery world (I live in Australia and whilst all you Northern Hemisphere folk are basking in wall to wall sunshine, we Aussies and Kiwis are shivering our way through Winter).
Winter is on my head
but eternal Spring is in my heart.
Victor Hugo

Since I’m up in Sydney this week, I thought this might be an appropriate one for today.
I travel not to go anywhere, but to go.
I travel for travel’s sake.
The great affair is to move.
Robert Louis Stevenson

There is no life without humour.
It can make the wonderful moments of life
truly glorious,
and it can make tragic moments bearable.
