Weekly Word Art Newsletter - 1 January 2008

Hi Everyone, and welcome to 2008.
Hope you had a Splendiferous Christmas and a Wonderful New Year’s Eve celebration. And here we are at the start of a fresh new year with so much ahead of us.
I had a great Family Christmas with all of my extended family gathering at my brother and sister-in-law’s house for Christmas Dinner in the evening as is our tradition. We all love this time of Christmas Day, when all the rushing around to different places for lunch etc. is over and it’s time to relax and really kick up our heels.
And I managed to catch up with a number of good friends over the Christmas week which I loved. There’s something about Christmas time that makes you want to make contact with people more than usual don’t you think?
But now it’s time to start a fresh and exciting New Year. And I hope we all have a Wonderful 366 Days.

Stuff from Scraps of Mind
In case you missed out on any of the action on Scraps of Mind over the Holiday Season, here’s a quick round up of some of the high
lights:
Have you ever tried making an Animated Scrapbook Layout? They are very cool. Here are some tips to help you design them as well as a link to my tutorial which shows you how to make your own.
I made a free video tutorial for you, showing you how to make your own digital curled or rolled edges for your digital scrapbook layouts. The video is on YouTube and there’s also a higher resolution version on my blog post. If you like it, please give it a vote on StumbleUpon (the button is at the bottom of the blog post). That way you can help me to bring more readers to Scraps of Mind, so it’s a win/win thing.
And speaking of FREE, I have a bonus piece of Word Art for you to download straight from Scraps of Mind. You can pick it up here.
As a farewell to 2007 I’ve done a Scraps of Mind Review of the Year to recollect some of the milestones for the blog over last year. For those of you who’ve been with me through the year you might find a few of your favourite articles in the mix. And for those who are new to Scraps of Mind, please have a look and come on the journey with us.

StumbleUpon
Are any of you familiar with this great site?
I wrote an article about it a few months ago and I really recommend you check it out.
The way it works is that you register and install the StumbleUpon toolbar on your computer (no tech skill required, just click on a button and it will do it for you). Then you set up your profile and list the things you are interested in (for example scrapbooking, digital scrapbooking, cardmaking, photography)
Now the fun part begins. You click on the Stumble button on the left of the toolbar and you’ll be presented with a random page that fits the tags you have put into your profile. You can look at the page or Stumble again for another one. If you think the page is good value and you think others might like it then you can click on the ‘thumbs up’ button on the tool bar. And of course if you think the page is rubbish you can click on the ‘thumbs down’ button.
By clicking on the speech bubble on the toolbar you can leave a short review on what you think of the page. Or you can click on another button and send a copy to a friend if you want.
StumbleUpon is a great way to see more sites on the topics that you are interested in, just to keep a fresh perspective. And it’s also a good way to show appreciation for some of the great material that bloggers around the World are putting out there.
And don’t underestimate the power of your Stumble, because if a few of you all Stumble the same post then that page will be offered to a lot more Stumblers out there and the blog will get a bunch of new traffic and hopefully some more new readers.
So give it a shot. I can guarantee you a good time.
