Weekly Word Art Newsletter - 5 Feb 2008

Hi Everyone, and welcome to this week’s Scraps of Mind Weekly Word Art Newsletter.
Well I’ve had a busy week here, but of course still made time to create your three pieces of Weekly Word Art. I hope you enjoy them and the rest of this Newsletter.

Join the Scraps of Mind Journalist Team
As I mentioned in a Newsletter a couple of weeks ago, I recently put out an invitation to Scraps of Mind readers to become Guest Writers on Scraps of Mind. To be honest I thought I would get a few responses and run a Monthly Guest Spot on the blog.
Well the response has been sensational! And if I just ran a monthly spot some of those great articles would take a year before they got published.
So I’ve decided to change my plan to a Weekly Guest Spot. And I have to say, I’m totally thrilled with the scope and variety of all the articles I’ve received. I know that readers are going to love the extra dimension that having these different contributions to Scraps of Mind is going to bring.
So if you would like to join what I’m dubbing the Scraps of Mind Journalist Team just let me know ( you can use the return email on this newsletter). It’s a great buzz seeing your work published on a blog other than your own.

The Collector
Those of you who have been reading Scraps of Mind for a while will probably know I’m a collectaholic.
At last count I discovered I’m supporting 18 different collections!!! Hmmm, I think I’ve got to stop counting.
Most of my collections are of various types of antique of vintage porcelain and pottery and also include antique perfume bottles, hatpins, toby jugs, Maltese stamps, miniature model houses, Venetian Carnivale masks and International dolls.
I’m not entirely sure why I have this obsession to collect, perhaps it’s because I had a slightly nomadic childhood as my Father was in the RAF and we moved around a bit. So I didn’t have a strong sense of ‘roots’ for places and things.
My collections are all over my house (yes I’m a ‘clutter’ person, not a minimalist) and I like the atmosphere they create. They’re like old friends sharing my house.
How about you? Do you like to collect things, or do you prefer to ‘travel light’?
If you’re interested in seeing some of my collections, I’ve written a few posts about them here on Scraps of Mind.
My daughter keeps telling me “Mum, you can’t collect everything.” Especially when I start a new one.
But you know, I don’t think that’s necessarily true…

Well that’s it for now. Hope you enjoy this week’s Word Art.
Next week will be Valentine’s Day and we’ll have a special Valentine’s Day edition of the Scraps of Mind Weekly Word Art Newsletter. So stay tuned.
Also please note that the Word Art will only be available for downloading for a month after the newsletter goes out. After that the links will not work.
Hope to see you over at Scraps of Mind. Don’t forget to leave a little comment to say ‘Hi’.
See you next week
