Hi Everyone, and welcome to this week’s edition of the Scraps of Mind Weekly Word Art Newsletter.

Have you ever been on a TV game show?

My two brothers went on one last Friday (Deal or No Deal) and they won $31,000. Not bad for half a day’s work. Their description of what went on sounds hilarious and I can’t wait for the show to be aired to see it for myself. I don’t normally watch the show and they’ve painstakingly explained it to me, but I think I’ll just get a hoot out of watching their tag team performance.

Earning Money with Your Blog

I know a number of you have your own blogs.

Have you ever wished you could make a little income from it without any real effort?

There is a way to do this (that is not only legal but ethical too). Host Text Link Ads on your blog.

What are Text Link Ads?

Well many companies will pay to have links to their sites on your blog. It helps them get improved search engine rankings and, of course they would like prospective customers to click through and see their offerings.

Now it’s a lot of hard work to go and find these companies but you can avoid all that by using a text link ad broker such as Text Link Ads. TLA will source the the ads for you and give you the opportunity to check them before approving them to appear on your blog. After all you want to keep control of what links appear on your blog, don’t you?

It’s pretty simple to get started. You just apply for an account with TLA and they will give you a piece of code that you copy and paste into a text widget on your blog. They will then email you the links for prospective advertisers and you can approve/disapprove them to appear on your blog. If you approve them, the link will appear in the widget.

TLA then pay you a monthly fee per link into your PayPal account.

You won’t be able to pay off the mortgage with your earnings, but it can go a long way towards funding your scrapbooking habit.

One thing I should tell you though is that Google is not a fan of text link ads. And it has been known to reduce the Page Ranking of blogs that run them. But since the majority of Scrapbookers don’t really care about Google Page Rank it’s probably not really an issue.

I run TLAs on Scraps of Mind. You can find them in the section underneath the Featured Sites section on the Scraps of Mind Home Page.

I have to say I find them very unobtrusive and it’s nice to get some scrapbooking pocket money in my payPal account each month.

News from Scraps of Mind

Well the Weekly Guest post spot that I’ve started running on Scraps of Mind is going over a treat. The response to the articles published so far has been really great and I know that the ladies who have written them appreciate the support they have received. And they write about different topics to those that I would write about so it adds an extra dimension to Scraps of Mind I think. So make sure you catch up on the Guest Posts to date and maybe you might like to have a go yourself. Just check out this article and contact me if you’re interested.

And for those of you who use Photoshop Elements, make sure you catch my Review on Photoshop Elements 6 - The Missing Manual by Barbara Brundage. It really is the book that should have come in the box.

Did any of you try out my idea for scrapbooking your Valentine’s layouts? Scrapbooking the Shape of Love gives you instructions for making the heart shaped scrapbook layout illustrated (for both digital scrapbookers and paper scrapbookers). But don’t just stop at heart shapes. Scrapbooking layouts in different shapes can be a really cool look. And help you to stretch your creativity a little too.
