Weekly Word Art Newsletter -18 Mar 2008

Hi Everyone, and welcome to this week’s edition of the Scraps of Mind Weekly Word Art Newsletter.

Well of course it was St Patrick’s Day at the beginning of this week. So if you have a trace of green in your blood, I hope the craic was great.

In Melbourne the Weather Fairy seems to have woken up from a two month snooze and realised she hasn’t really given us a good blast of solid heat this Summer. So she’s sent us a rolling heat wave of 38+C (100+F) temperatures. All that green beer certainly came in handy!

What’s been happening on Scraps of Mind?

Hope you’ve been enjoying this week on Scraps of Mind. I loved Kayla’s review of the PMA Show in Las Vegas. I can just imagine her fun and excitement at discovering all those goodies.

And for all the paper scrapbookers out there who are contemplating trying out Digital Scrapbooking, I’ve made a new Scrapbooking Edge Video Tutorial t show you how to make your first digital layout.

I figured that if you’re already making cool paper layouts, you’ll want your first digital layout to look pretty cool too. Not like a ‘beginners’ layout. But you’ll want to just deal with the simple basic techniques that you need to create it.

And Digital Arts Café has a 40% discount on it until Thursday. So not only is this Scrapbooking Edge Tutorial great value in its content, but it’s also a super bargain as well.

And don’t forget, you get all the digital elements to make your first layout included with the tutorial.

Easter Meditation

As we head towards the Easter Break this weekend, I thought I’d take a moment to stop and think about what this time means.

For many, Easter is a major religious festival in the Christian calendar and their they will celebrate this weekend through their church associations and events.

For others it’s a welcome break, heralding Summer (or Winter if you’re an Aussie or NZer). And for most it’s an opportunity to break the diet and get stuck into the chocolates.

But fundamentally Easter is a celebration of renewal and rebirth. The gateway to a fresh new Cycle of the Year.

So I thought, what better time to take an hour or so out of a hectic life and sit and meditate on how good life is.

I am blessed with a wonderful daughter, with whom I enjoy the best of relationships. I have a close and supportive family relationship with my siblings and their families. I am happy in a stable relationship with a man who understands that I need my ‘space’. I have a group of close friends who I know will always be there for me if I need them. I have made some great ‘long distance’ friends through Scraps of Mind. And I have a wonderful hobby which stimulates my creativity and provides immense personal satisfaction.

With all this goodness in my life, all the difficult things, the hurdles and challenges, seem to dwindle. They’re still there of course. But their importance in the grand scheme of my life is put into better perspective.

I think that was an hour very well spent. Why not take time out of your life to do the same.
