Moving House…Underwater

Some of you may recall a few weeks ago I mentioned that my brother, sister-in-law and niece were going to be moving in with me to share my little house for an extended period.

Well last weekend was the big house move!

Now I’m sure that many of you are familiar with the do-it-yourself approach to moving house.

Well like all of these exercises everything took a lot longer than was planned and the last leg - moving their couches, beds, desks, tallboys, washing machine and 1200 boxes into my house - took place at 10.30 pm!!

Yes folks, picture the scene:

It’s pitch dark in the narrow laneway at the back of my garden.

The truck has negotiated the narrow and winding little spaces between the fences and is parked by my back gate, taking up the entire width of the laneway.

It’s 10.30pm and everyone is exhausted.

And Mother Nature decides to break her dry spell… with a vengeance!!

Within seconds we were all totally soaked to the skin and were splashing through ankle deep puddles whilst juggling furniture etc. carefully around the pond that dominates my tiny back yard.

And despite some near misses, there were no accidents involving the pond, thank Heaven.

Neither the truck nor the laneway had any light. But, bless her heart, Mother Nature took care of that by continuously highlighting the contents of the truck with flashes of lightening through the booming thunder.

It was the most crazy surreal experience I have ever had when house moving.

But of course we managed to finally get everything in and set up some little oases of civilization in amongst all the unpacked boxes.

And life continues on…

Highlights from Scraps of Mind

I kicked off a great new Group Project on Scraps of mind this week.

I’ve invited all scrapbooking readers to be part of a recipe eBook called Scraps of Mind Yummy Treats.

Just scrapbook a favourite recipe (of the sweet variety) and sent it in to me and I’ll put together a great Yummy Treats Recipe Book for you, your friends and family to download, print out and enjoy.

Read how to get in on the fun here.

And for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements users, I’ve put together a list of the most useful keyboard shortcuts to make your digital scrapbooking or photo editing even easier.

And finally, make sure you read how to make a really personal scrapbook layout using hybrid scrapbooking techniques.
